Authenticity is what God wants from me

My friend Sandie had this incredible verse attached to our pages for the upcoming Women’s Retreat we are about to have (from Matt 6:6, from the Master Himself, in the sermon He preached on the mountainside):

“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense His grace.”

Wow!! This weekend we are getting away to learn about how to be authentic women for God. The best way for me to do that is to be authentic with God! I want to learn how to be REAL with God and others ( and myself, for that matter). I’m praying for an incredible time together. God is strongest in my weakness … we have some women at RCC who have been through alot in their lives this year. God wants all of us to lean on Him and let Him strengthen each one of us. I desire to continue to “fight” for authenticity in my life in every area, and then to grow with God’s help in the areas in which I continue to struggle. I don’t want to stop at being real before God — I must then repent and respond to Him in obedience AND faith; the thing I must remember, that I usually forget, is that it’s not me who has to do it…. it’s Him that WILL do it, if I allow Him to.

Mel, you are so smart and such an encouragment. I wouldn’t have thought that authenticity would be an issue for you, you seem so real to me! (sassy jo jinich, the way i pronounced my name as a little girl in texas).
