Love has Come for the World to Know

Love divine, all loves excelling, Joy of heaven to earth come down;
Fix in us Your humble dwelling; all Your faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, You are all compassion; pure, unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with Your salvation. Enter every trembling heart.

The best love … excelling all other loves, came down “at Christmas”. What a wonderful season this is to celebrate and revel in the joy of knowing Jesus and experiencing His love and grace. I also am again reminded of how may hearts are not tuned to His grace. The special season is here and many celebrate it, but they will miss the real Truth of what Christmas is. Linus got it right, but many still haven’t.
The bible says, “How timely is the arrival of those who proclaim the good news. But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says, ‘Lord, who has believed our report?’
Consequently faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the preached word of Christ.'”

Some don’t celebrate Jesus because they refuse. Still others need to hear the good news… and to see it lived out in us who do have the Hope within us. In the midst of decorations and shopping, meals and gatherings, I am praying to recognize the eternal significance of people missing the Christ-child in their lives. It is not just about a missing piece out of a manger set. It is about missing the Prince of Peace! It is missing out on the Person of Jesus Himself, and the eternal life God has offered all those who “would search for God and grope around for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.”
If people miss the meaning of Christmas this year, I am praying that it will not be because I missed opportunities to share it with them. Every heart needs the gift of Jesus’ love and forgiveness.
Love came down.
We are to spread Him around
