Full Life … It’s not about the Calendar!

John 10:10

Living life to the full … some days I wake up determined to experience the fullness of life. Some days I wake up wondering if it’s really possible to do so on a consistent, daily basis. I think the key is for me to be convinced that experiencing life to the full – life in abundance, overflowing with peace and joy – is possible in Christ. And by that, I mean that it’s worth changing my thinking. I desire more more faith to see that He will bring it about!

At the beginning of 2013 (yes, just a few days ago), I was looking ahead to what my days hold this year. At first glance, I was overwhelmed and decided that I was over-committed. But as I have picked back up into the “routine” of my days, I came to conclude that it wasn’t that at all. It was actually that I was under-committed. Or maybe I should say that while I had committed myself to some events, I had not made a full commitment to life change on a daily basis.

After my morning bible study time yesterday and my walk with a friend in the afternoon, I knew that God was reminding me that it wasn’t more time or even energy I needed. It was more of Him. Actually, I have all of Him. I need to give Him more of me. As I’ve thought about it, I’ve been struck at how my studies are so connected, and how I need them all right now…

Hebrews 11 and the life of faith – the OT believers had faith, even though they couldn’t see how or when God was going to fulfill His promises to them.John’s message of abundant living – the promise of everlasting life has already begun for me.
Spiritual warfare – putting on the full armor of God and fighting the good fight of faith is the way to experience life to the full.

The everlasting, abundant life began for me way before 2013 began. “In Him, we were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, Who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory!” If the characters of Hebrews 11 we able to, by faith, receive what they could not read about or see or comprehend, how much more, with the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, should I have faith to trust that God is able to complete His work in me. By putting on the full armor of God (Bible study, prayer, faith and witness) I am more than a conqueror! So, it is with some fear and trembling that I say “Bring it on, 2013!!”
By faith, in the power of the Spirit, armed for the daily fight … daily life can be lived to the FULL.
